Tuesday, Aug. 1
*OSP, Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) and a medical crew advised that, having thoroughly checked the area near milepost 32 on Redwood Hwy, they located no pickup truck reported to have gone into a ditch at 1:39 a.m.
*Stating that he wanted “to kill himself,” and “to burn his house down,” and physically abusing himself, a 36-year-old man on W. River Street was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital on a peace officer’s mental hold.
*Unaware that the water tank on his newly purchased property in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. had been loaned to the seller, a man phoned to report the tank being stolen when someone came to retrieve it, but the matter was soon sorted out.
*Found driving with a suspended license on S. Kerby Avenue, Christopher James Ray Burns, 29, was charged with driving while suspended (DWS). His vehicle was impounded.
*Jeremy Wade Vineyard, 25, was cited on charges of interfering with a peace officer, and obstructing governmental administration in connection with the preceding incident.
*Warned about trespassing at the Brown Barn Launderette, Gary M. Rodrigues, 49, refused to leave, reportedly stating, “Take me to jail.” He was cited on a charge of second-degree criminal trespassing and transported to county jail in Grants Pass. There being “no available resources” to handle him there, Rodrigues was “provided directions to Hwy. 199 from the jail parking lot.”
*Somebody used a .BB gun to cause $700 damage to a vehicle, reported a man on Cowboy Way.
*Appliances were removed sometime during the past two weeks from a home for sale on Dick George Road, a man reported. The place was also ransacked.
*Two teen-agers seen drinking alcohol on Holland Loop threw their beer bottles onto the street, but a neighbor made them clean up their mess.
*A man who’d reported his vehicle burglarized on S. Junction Avenue two days earlier phoned to note that his 9mm semi-automatic pistol also had been taken.
*A mountain bike was found at St. Mathias Episcopal Church, and turned in. Also, trouble with people who loiter on church property other than at mealtimes were noted.
*Roger C. Kelm, 50, was cited on a charge of first-degree assault following investigation of an earlier incident.
*Officers left a residence on W. River Street when asked to do so even though they’d received two 911 hang-up calls from there. The occupant (who wouldn’t answer the door), though found unresponsive on the floor with half a bottle of ibuprofen, was determined to be not a danger to himself.
*“Fighting, yelling” and a gunshot were reported and then loud music from somewhere on Hogue Drive around 10 p.m., a caller said. A group of eight persons was contacted who admitted to engaging in “horseplay,” but denied fighting or the use of a gun.
Wednesday, Aug. 2
*Some $500 damage was done to a glass door at Taylor’s Sausage Country Store just after 3 a.m., but entry was not gained.
*A check lost in January had been cashed in February by someone in Modesto , reported a caller who was referred to the proper jurisdictional authorities.
*Five people were warned about trespassing on Caves Avenue.
*No one was around but the phone was off the hook when a deputy followed up on a 911 call from a public telephone at Joe’s Market at 1 p.m.
*In payment for work done, a man said, he was given a riding lawnmower, which he learned was supposed to have been repossessed, and was therefore “hot.”
*Though it threatened to become an environmental hazard, a Jeep was safely removed from the middle of the Illinois River near the “Forks” state park.
*Conscious, but unable to stand, an intoxicated man -- “one of the locals” -- was reported prone on the ground in the 300 block of Caves Hwy.
*Nearly three hours later, our man was curled up on the front porch of a residence in the 800 block of Caves Hwy. He was warned of trespassing there, and he moved on.
*Justin Leavitt, 35, was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original DUII charge.
*Found in a restaurant doorway in CJ at 8:12 p.m., Gary M. Rodrigues, 49, was cited on a charge of second-degree criminal trespassing. He was released from the jail where he “threw his citation on the ground.”
*Doreen L. Miller, 32, was cited on warrants charging FTA on original charges of unlawfully obtaining public assistance, possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree theft. She was lodged in county jail.
*Lucas V. Tillett, 18, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS), and warned for defective brake lights and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Thursday, Aug. 3
*An earlier trespassing subject was transported back to the valley at 3:30 a.m. from county jail.
*An intoxicated man made a nuisance of himself at a Holland Loop residence at 3:38 a.m., and he was given a ride to the Holland Store.
*On Illinois River Road:
Darin C. Schneider, 39; Rhema K. Nelson, 23; Brian D. Clark, 49; and Evan J. Ooghe, 17; were each cited on a charge of failure to maintain a lane (FaMaLa) this afternoon;
Brandon A. Valencia, 21, was cited on charges of FaMaLa, driving while uninsured, and DWS. His passenger was cited on a charge of wearing a seatbelt improperly;
Eric W. Valencia, 19, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and driving uninsured; and
Thomas L. Benoist, 35, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and driving uninsured.
*Difficulties between tenants, a landlord and an ex-tenant camping on the property was noted in the 500 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at noon.
*While battling a quarter-acre brush fire off of Rough & Ready Creek Road, firefighters discovered a brand new or harvested marijuana grow site, but no plants.
Friday, Aug. 4
*At quarter to 1 a.m. two men were “trespassed” from St. Mathias Episcopal church, because it wasn’t lunchtime.
*On Smith Sawyer Road, a man said his 17-year-old brother, who has a “temper problem,” was “freaking out.”
*In the 8000 block of Caves Hwy., a woman said someone had cut through the aluminum skin of a camper, ransacked the interior and took two marijuana pipes, with no listed value.
*On Pinewood Way, a woman said he boyfriend had been beating her up, but he and a witness said he’d been preventing her from breaking out his vehicle’s windows.
*In the 4000 block of Illinois River Road:
Roger D. Ruhl, 48, was cited on a charge of failure to drive right;
Gabriel A. Gonzales, 20; Tyler A. Best, 22; and Steven V. Lawrence, 20; were each cited on a charge of FaMaLa;
*In the 9000 block of Takilma Road a man was being threatened by another who stated “I’m going to kill you.”
*Gunfire had been going on for 20 minutes, said a man on Pinewood Way at 8:21 p.m.
