Sunday, July 23
*Robin Rhodes Gasser, 39, was cited on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) following a motor vehicle accident (MVA) on Reeves Creek Road at 2:13 a.m. His passenger, Donald F. Miller, 61, was cited on a warrant charging parole violation on an original DUII charge.
*On N. Kerby Avenue a caller asked that a deputy tell a neighbor to quiet their dog, which had been barking for three consecutive hours, according to the caller.
*One man, chasing another with a car during an altercation on Boundary Lane, ran his vehicle into a utility pole at 4:19 a.m., bloodying himself. Both men involved refused medical attention.
*Having second thoughts about allowing a man with a history of domestic violence to stay with her, a woman in Cave Junction sought to have him taken into custody, but was advised that it was a civil eviction issue.
*Joshua Leo Lewis, 19, was cited on a charge of driving uninsured after he was stopped for failure to signal a lane change in Downtown CJ.
*A deputy noticed a driver avoiding him, and he initiated a casual contact after the man parked near Z Coffee. John David Sexton, 34, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS). His vehicle was impounded.
*Stating to a care-taker that he was “an employee of the sheriff’s office,” a man in a white pickup truck was said to be trespassing at a new residential development on Daisy Hill Road at 3:37 p.m.
*Just after 4 p.m. some children on Deer Creek Road said that a man yelled at them as they played in the water because their dog was running on the creek bank.
*Three telephone calls threatening her with a butt-kicking were enough for one Kerby woman, who asked that a deputy warn the caller to stop phoning.
*A loaded magazine for a Glock firearm, valued at $60, was removed from an open vehicle on Manzanita Lane overnight, it was reported.
*Near Lake Selmac, a woman said that her puppy found a rooster’s leg with a cock-fighting spur attached to it, but she wasn’t sure where the leg came from.
*A man to whom she loaned a cell phone refused to return it or pay the associated bill, a woman complained. She was informed that it was a civil issue.
*In the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy., a woman said that a suspicious looking person was sitting by a bush staring at her at 8 p.m. Her daughter ascertained that the “person” was a tree stump.
*Josephine County Public Works Dept. was notified of a large tree branch blocking lanes on White Schoolhouse Road at 6:30 p.m.
*A telephone message was left advising a man to stop phoning his ex-wife and making threats against her and her boyfriend.
Monday, July 24
*No reason was discovered for an intrusion alarm activated at Lorna Byrne Middle School at 4:24 a.m.
*People in the 300 block of Kirkham Road suspected a neighbor of having shot their cats, but were to phone again when they had more information.
*Both license plates were stolen from a vehicle on Rockydale Road, a woman reported. Then her car was towed.
*Youths with a shotgun were firing it “in all directions,” even peppering a neighboring house, said two callers from Pinewood Way. A lack of parental supervision also was noted.
*A briefcase containing business items was reported removed from a vehicle parked behind a fence on Finch Road.
*Evidence of a camp -- including a sleeping bag shoved into bushes and a stash of groceries -- were reported behind the CJ branch of the county library.
*Several people, it seems, wanted a man to leave an apartment complex in CJ. They listed a number of character flaws; and he noted that a few had threatened to kill him. He insisted that he had a lease and established residency, and so it was a deemed a civil matter.
Tuesday, July 25
*Two young people appeared to be “scoping out the building,” a caller from Shop Smart Food Warehouse said at 12:42 a.m.
*Two people were seen smashing the passenger-side window of a vehicle parked near McCaleb Ranch out Illinois River Road. Reported stolen was a purse and new cell phone. The perps left a flashlight.
*Once again, no good reason could be found for a perimeter alarm activated at the middle school in CJ.
*Found camping behind the CJ Library on W. Palmer Street, a 26-year-old man was asked to move along, and he did so.
*Someone phoned a Little Grayback Road resident claiming to be from a collection agency and demanded personal information.
*Two motorcycles, one of which worked, were reported stolen from the front yard of a Tracy Lane home.
*A deputy attempted to contact a Crooks Creek Road resident to advise him to phone a woman in Delaware, who would inform him of his son’s passing.
*A 15-year-old girl was listed as a runaway.
*Leland Glenn Townsend, 47, was cited on charges of driving while suspended (DWS) and driving uninsured after colliding with a section of fence on Westside Road.
*Based on a report of someone at Jubilee Park appearing to have been beaten, American Medical Response medics located Gary Mathew Rodrigues, 49, around 5:30 p.m. and hustled him off to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass, where he filed a report of fourth-degree assault. He also was cited on warrants charging failure to appear (FTA) on charges of second-degree disorderly conduct and three counts of second-degree criminal trespassing.
*Though not supposed to have contact with his family, a 21-year-old man was standing outside their CJ home at 10 p.m., his mother reported.
*A runaway girl was returned home at 10:18 p.m.
Wednesday, July 26
*A woman indicated that she would have a restraining order modified to prohibit telephonic contact by a man she said had made threatening calls to her.
*Someone entered a woman’s unlocked vehicle on Millie Street overnight, whereupon they took a purse and a bag of clothes, attempted to steal the stereo and damaged the ignition, she reported.
*“Numerous items,” estimated to be worth some $700, were said taken from a locked shop in the 22000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Passed out and urine-soaked, a man was sleeping in front of a shop on Caves Avenue at 4:19 p.m. and the owner wanted him removed.
*On Forest Creek Road a man complained of having been assaulted by three others who came to his house.
*In the 7000 block of Takilma Road at 7 p.m. a yelling, screaming, mustachioed wing-nut fired six gunshots by the river and then peeled out in his pickup truck, headed toward Four Corners, said a caller, who verified that no one appeared to have been injured.
*Two vehicles on W. Stevenson Street were rifled; the glove boxes left ajar and one stereo partially removed, a caller said.
*Intoxicated and demanding alcohol, a man was at 9:50 p.m. wandering through a Kerby neighborhood pounding on windows and doors, a caller said.
Thursday, July 27
*Having found some clothing, a man in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. speculated that someone might be camping on his property.
*On Briggs Valley Road a man was warned for discharging a firearm from a roadway.
*Four possibly intoxicated men were told to not return to any portion of Lake Selmac park due to their disorderly behavior.
*A woman who had been told not to return to Bimor Tobacco Outlet was informed that she was trespassing, and a report of second-degree criminal trespass was filed.
*Her son was struck on his head by a flashlight-wielding father after walking the man’s runaway daughter home, a CJ mother reported.
*People were playing loud music as they moved on S. Kerby Avenue, and a caller wanted them told to bring the noise down.
*Bleeding from a severed artery and in shock, a woman in a green van pulled up behind a deputy engaged in a traffic stop on Redwood Hwy. at Reeves Creek Road and received assistance.
*Her bank card and checks had been stolen, a woman said, and the suspects were still trying to use them in spite of the account having been closed.
*Diana MacCarlie, 44, was cited on a charge of failure to wear a seat belt and failure to have current proof of insurance in the 400 block of Redwood Hwy. at 7:30 p.m.
*Someone made a recklessly large fire in a tunnel under S. Redwood Hwy. in the 500 block.
Friday, July 28
*People putting flowers on a tree in the 21000 block of Redwood Hwy. were warned to not block a driveway with their vehicle.
*Jennifer D. Thomasson, 23; Joshua D. Grosenbach, 24; Fantasia Freedom, 23; Freddy Bekker Cole, 18, Jeremiah H. Lewman, 21; Justin Atwell, 25; Martin W. Ross, 48; Roy E. Graves; 34; and Derek M. Wright, 24; each were cited on a charge of failure to maintain a lane (FaMaLa) in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road this afternoon.
*A man was to be told he was “permanently 86’d” from Shop Smart Food Warehouse after a trespassing incident.
*A street person said that a group of five men had been chasing him around Cave Junction for days, and he wanted them warned about their behavior.
*Someone has been ringing her doorbell at all hours of the night, complained a Schumacher Street resident.
*Though a man on Norman Road was said to have claimed to have a handgun and made threats against his family, their was no indication of a crime, and the parties involved agreed to separate for the night.
Saturday, July 29
*Stemming from an argument regarding custodial issues, Lester Monk, 49, and Raelene Monk, 29, each were cited on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault. She was lodged in Josephine County Jail.
*Jennifer L. Stagner, 20; Jeremy P Bakke, 19; Joshua P. Bakke, 19; Nicaela M. Harrop, 20, were cited on charges of FaMaLa in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road.
*Ryan P. Ulbricht, 20; was cited on charges of FaMaLa and failure to carry proof of insurance; and his passenger was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road at 2:40 p.m.
*Robert J. Cotton, 28, was cited on charges of failure to maintain a lane, driving uninsured and driving with a suspended license. He was warned for throwing burning material from the vehicle.
*Phillip J. Wright, 27, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured. His vehicle was impounded.
*Pepper-sprayed for not complying with police commands, Jamie Lee McEntire, 31, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on charges of DWS, failure to maintain a lane, failure to carry and present a license and proof of insurance, and resisting arrest after a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road.
*At Grayback Campground a man with a rifle approached a hiking family on a trail and told them to leave. He was counseled about his behavior.
*A fire which seemed to have been intentionally set was investigated near Chinquapin Campground in the 12000 block of Caves Hwy. at quarter to 7 p.m.
* Two men in a red pickup truck were racing up and down the Deer Creek riverbed.
Sunday, July 30
*Several items including pants, cologne, and car stereo components were reported taken from a locked vehicle parked on S. Junction Avenue overnight.
*One of his employees was being stalked by a man who lurked near his business, said a Cave Junction restaurant owner, and something needed to be done or he was “going to take care of it.”
*On Lone Mountain Road a soon-to-be– former tenant claimed that his landlord had removed some of his tools and other items from the garage of the residence he was leaving.
*An employee at Ray’s Food Place in Selma was threatened by one of her child’s relatives. The man was told to leave the store.
Monday, July 31
*Left at a friend’s house on Deer Creek Road, a new ATV was missing when a young man came to retrieve it, and he reported it stolen.
*On W. River Street somebody left water running at a house under construction, washing a layer of dirt down to the road.
*Leaving Ray’s Food Place erratically headed down Deer Creek Road, the possibly intoxicated driver of a black pickup truck was seen pouring alcohol into a plastic bottle.
*An air compressor valued at $300 was reportedly taken from a garage in Kerby.
*While he was playing with some neighborhood kids and their potato gun on Pinewood Way a man said, another neighbor started firing a .22-caliber weapon, striking the caller in one arm, he said.
