Tales from the Police Blotter

* * *

Sunday, May 28

*Keith E. Kieffer, 46, was cited on a charge of driving uninsured on Watkins Street around 11 a.m. He also was warned for a defective turn signal and failure to register his vehicle.

*Somebody said that the driver of a blue Mustang sped recklessly past Wild River Brewing & Pizza at 1:30 p.m.

*Near the green bridge on Eight Dollar Road, Zach Daniels Morton, 29, was cited on a charge of discharging a firearm across Illinois River.

*Two men in ski masks approached her home at quarter to 6 p.m., said a Caves Hwy. resident. They ran off toward Sucker Creek behind her property.

*Loud music was reported as a disturbance at 8:30 p.m. in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy.

Monday, May 29

*Perhaps intent on yard work, thieves made off with a chainsaw and John Deere tractor from the 7000 block of Caves Hwy.

*Stopped for failure to signal on S. Caves Avenue at E. Watkins Street at 11 a.m., Sabrina M. Wilson, 18, was cited on charges of driving without a license, and without insurance. Her vehicle was impounded.

*Eric Griffie, 35, was cited on charges of driving with a suspended license (DWS) and driving uninsured. His vehicle was impounded.

*“Driving to the store for “smokes,” another driver with a suspended license, pulled over for speeding and failure to use a turn signal, watched as her vehicle was impounded in Downtown CJ.

*Brett D. Morrison, 44, was cited on a charge of DWS, and his vehicle was impounded.

*Her intoxicated boyfriend beat her up and broke one of her arms, said a woman on Hussey Avenue. She was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital by American Medical Response.

Tuesday, May 30

*Approximately a mile north of Rough & Ready Lumber Co., a brown cow was reported loose at 6:22 a.m.

*On Browntown Road a woman asked that her neighbor be advised to phone animal control if he has an issue with her barking dog, and to stop yelling at her on the telephone.

*Though it was reported that a man was throwing rocks at a woman pushing a stroller on Millie Street, when contacted, the woman denied it and said that she did not need assistance.

*Rhonda M. Green, 70, was cited for “operation without required equipment” on E. River Street at 1:30 p.m.

*Billie Mack Jones, 55, was cited on a charge of DWS, and his vehicle was impounded.

*With help from a K-9 officer, Alex Wallin, age not listed, was taken into custody on a charge of third-degree assault.

*In the 7000 block of Caves Hwy., forced entry was made to a garage, and a mountain bike valued at $800 unlawfully removed.

*On W. River Street some “neighborhood kids” wrote their names on a woman’s fence with chalk. A message was left with parents of the children involved to have the mss cleaned up “immediately.”

Wednesday, May 31

*Wearing marijuana-leaf emblazoned pants, a tall blond man in his 20s “just walked up to the register” at Dragon Gate Restaurant around noon, and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

*Harold D. Brazell, 54, was cited on a charge of driving uninsured, and his vehicle was impounded.

*Stopped for failure to signal a turn, a motorcyclist was determined to have no driver’s license or insurance, and his Harley was impounded.

Thursday, June 1

*On Queen of Bronze Road, a man said that someone from nearby was throwing rocks on his roof and yelling, “Snitch!”

*Alarms were activated at Wild River Brewing & Pizza as someone broke in at 2:30 a.m.

*Employees of Evergreen Federal Bank reported a smashed glass door and “ransacked” interior. Nothing was taken, and video surveillance captured footage of the suspect.

*Both license plates were taken from a vehicle parked at a valley restaurant overnight.

*Tammy Fincher, 41, was cited on a charge of failure to leave name at the scene of an accident (FLNSA) with property damage.

*Some funster left a note in the day-use fee box at Lake Selmac threatening to bomb JoCo parks or shoot a ranger, the parks department manager said.

*Following a brief pursuit and tussle, Joshua Jax Harvey, 31, was arrested on charges of failure to carry and present an ID, providing false information to police, second-degree escape, and eluding. He also had outstanding warrants on charges of failure to appear on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) and parole violation. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail.

*Five men were said to be sitting on the front lawn of a Hussey Avenue residence, drinking beer, and it was requested they be told to move on.

*Apparently, someone did manage to enter Wild River, as it was reported at 12:16 p.m. that the office had been ransacked and some money taken.

*Although it appeared to be abandoned, a transient camp off Rough & Ready Creek Road was “a mess,” and BLM was notified that it needed to be cleaned up.

*Caught “in the throes of passion” with her 18-year-old beau at Illinois River “Forks” State Park at 7:46 p.m., a 15-year-old girl was given a ride home.

*His neighbor was banging on a drum and making “a lot of noise,” said a man on Queen of Bronze Road at 8 p.m.

Friday, June 2

*Two sleeping transients were rousted from their shelter under the canopy at the former CJ Select Market around 6 p.m.

*Reported yelling at teen-aged boys that he was going to shoot them, a transient was told to move on after urinating in front of a CJ bar.

Saturday, June 3

*In the 300 block of Caves Avenue, a man reported someone in a sleeping bag in his front yard at 6:39 a.m. The sleeper was rousted and told to move on.

*A Takilma Road resident was advised to stay away from her neighbor after he allegedly chased her and a friend with a chainsaw.

*Cited on charges of reckless driving, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, failure to carry and present a driver’s license, DWS and three counts of failure to obey a traffic control device, Jason Edmund Dangerfield, 25, was lodged in county jail.

*A small child playing with the telephone was responsible for a 911 hang-up call from the 900 block of Kirkham Road at 5 p.m.

*Charged with parole violation, Robert James Myers, 35, was transported to county jail and lodged on four warrants charging failure to comply with terms of probation, and two warrants charging failure to appear on charges of DUII and contempt of court.

Sunday, June 4

*Three young men admitted to having damaged a vehicle parked at High Pines Campground, but no owner could be located for the car. No victim, no crime.

Monday, June 5

*Sometime the week prior, a window was broken and an attempt made to steal a CD player from a pickup truck in the 10000 block of Takilma Road, the owner reported.

*Rodney Lee Flansburg, 32, was cited on a charge of DWS on S. Kerby Avenue at 2:30 p.m.

*Stopped in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. for twice failing to use his turn signals and having an obscured license plate, Robert O. Yankee, 48, was cited on charges of failure to carry insurance and expired registration. His vehicle was impounded.

*Somebody ripped a public telephone from the wall at Holland Store overnight.

*Damion Lee Lyles, 19, was cited on a charge of driving uninsured, and warned for having expired tags with the wrong stickers on them.

*Two men were observed to be fighting while several others stood around yelling on S. Sawyer Avenue at Lister Street around 10 p.m., but all had departed before a deputy arrived.
