Wednesday, May 3
*At 12:57 a.m. at the south edge of Cave Junction, a woman said that her boyfriend hit her approximately 20 minutes earlier. She said he’d never done it before.
*At Illinois River “Forks” State Park, a man in a car underwent a field interrogation (FI) at 2:12 a.m.
*A former employee told to stay away keeps showing up at a business in Kerby.
*It was deemed a civil matter after a man returned home in Selma and reported that besides dead trees he had ordered removed, several thousand dollars worth of undead trees also were felled.
*It was reported that a middle school student’s cell phone was either lost or stolen, and that calls are being made from it.
*Five suspects were listed in connection with items being removed from a valley trailer park. They are listed as being 14, 17 (two), 20 and 21.
*A mother reported that her daughter was accosted by nine other girls after school in Jubilee Park in a “dispute over a boy,” and that she was beaten enough that she had a knot on her head and a bleeding mouth.
*When an apparent drunk, whose vehicle was weaving on Sauer’s Flat, got out of his vehicle to pee, he stumbled, a man said.
*The district attorney was to be advised of a man who brought tobacco into county jail, which is a no-no.
*From Norman Road came a call from an angry, intoxicated man at 10:23 p.m. complaining about damage to his car and the “meth problem” in Cave Junction. He didn’t want deputy contact until he built “rapport.”
Thursday, May 4
*Extra patrol at Lorna Byrne Middle School (LBMS) was logged at 1:01 a.m.
*Community Oriented Policing (COP) was logged at 1:02 a.m. at Lake Selmac RV Resort. (Either a deputy had a very fast patrol car or there were two officers in separate cars this morning.)
*COP was logged on Ollis Road at 1:10 a.m.
*There was a 1:22 a.m. call from a woman on E. River Street about someone trying to break into her residence. It turned out to be a raccoon trying to steal cat food in the back-yard.
*Following a intruder alert from Day Oil Co. a loose door was found. Entry was not made.
*At LBMS a boy, 12, was “out of control.” Before a deputy could arrive, the boy’s parents arrived and took charge of him.
*Loud noises from a motor vehicle at Jubilee Park were reported at 3:17 p.m.
*Some sort of malfunction caused a hold-up alarm to sound at a CJ bank at 5:13 p.m.
*Because of what she termed harassing emails from a man, a woman in CJ was going to find out about getting a restraining order.
*A mother complained that a school official looked down the front of her son’s pants in a search for marijuana. Her son didn’t have any, the mother said.
*The father who reported his son’s cell phone missing said that he has possible suspect information, as calls have included two to his sister-in-law, who was called names of an undisclosed nature.
*“Menacing” was claimed on N. Junction Avenue at 7:43 p.m. in connection with gunshots said to involve a man firing at a house, as he was upset with his wife.
*On S. Junction Avenue at 7:48 p.m. a man confronted another man who he believed to be drunk and speeding, and who was drinking a 40-ounce beer. The wife of the man doing the confronting said that the driver told her husband he “was messing with the wrong guy.”
Friday, May 5
*From CJ a man complained about what he called a suspicious motorhome containing people he called child molesters. He was not satisfied with the response time for a deputy.
*Someone complained in CJ that a child is always crying and that the mother is usually swearing at her. A deputy checked and reported that the child appears well taken care of, and that perhaps the child was “throwing a fit” earlier.
*When she spoke with a transient woman at a CJ business about staying away from her rural CJ home, the transient threw her shoes at her, causing pain, according to a complainant.
*A man threatened suicide in CJ, but he couldn’t be located.
*A person unknown to the caller hit her front door the night before, said a resident on Bumblebee Lane.
*Theft of a camera and related items valued at $450 was reported by a woman at Jubilee Park.
*Out Rockydale Road at 1:15 p.m. a caller complained that people were playing music over their weed-eater and that the music was quite loud.
*Some sort of physical disturbance was reported at a CJ business at 9:08 p.m.
*Bottle rockets were complained about in the area of N. Hussey Avenue and Millie Street.
*No evidence of a crime was noted after a report of a father and son fighting in the 4900 block of Holland Loop.
Saturday, May 6
*Three “prank calls” were reported received by a woman in CJ in what was called a civil matter, and both parties were advised to leave the other alone.
*Four so-called transients, “86’d” (kicked out and told to never return) from the state liquor store, went outside and yelled at the employee while trying to get people to buy liquor for them at 11:36 a.m.
*It was determined that a young boy playing around dialed 911 from a CJ public telephone.
*Trespassing in the form of a man who drives through a Kerby neighborhood with his headlights off, and who has been told four times to quit doing it, was reported at 2:57 p.m.
*No officer was available to check on a reported intoxicated driver at 3:09 p.m. in the area of Caves Hwy. and Barnes Way.
*In Downtown CJ a woman said that she and her boyfriend were fighting, and that when she tried to leave, he smashed her windshield with a rock.
*There was a pickup truck fire that temporarily blocked Bear Creek Road off Caves Hwy. at 5:06 p.m.
*An alarm sounded for an unknown reason at Fountain of Life Assembly of God Church at 5:18 p.m.
*COP was logged at “Forks” Park at 6:03 p.m.
*At 6:55 p.m. a man at a CJ store underwent an FI.
*The DA was to become involved in a CJ situation in which a man said his vehicle was taken without permission and returned, but that $300 worth of clutch work is needed now.
*Harassment or custodial interference, ice cream and someone’s hair being pulled were involved in situation in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*A woman in CJ didn’t want her fiancé to spend the night because he had been drinking.
Sunday, May 7
*Creeps broke into Shear Madness and ransacked it, it was found after a 1:38 a.m. alarm.
*After an ex-girlfriend was said to be stealing his car in Kerby at 1:53 a.m., she and the ex reached an agreement “for tonight.”
*Following a glass-breakage alarm at the state liquor store in CJ it was determined to be OK, as contractors were working.
*Two counterfeit $20 bills were reported received in O’Brien. The man who passed them said that he got them from a bank.
*A man, 55, was warned about his driving habits in Selma at 2:20 p.m.
*A man, 20, was warned about speeding in Kerby at 2:34 p.m.
*Subsequent to a complaint that a woman, who had been “trespassed” from a CJ business was back, a deputy arrested Neilia Beth Pierson, 52, on various charges including criminal trespass and violation of a conditional release; and under warrants including one charging failure to appear (FTA) on charges of third-degree robbery, menacing, and theft.
*Fifteen to 20 persons were said to be involved in a disturbance with a knife in Kerby. They dispersed before deputies could arrive; no one was reported injured.
*A deputy looked for a suspected drunk driving a car from Lake Selmac, but he was not located.
*Outside a CJ business at 8:10 p.m. people had a disturbance, then left.
*A girl, 14, left home on Waldo Road on a bicycle without permission, and there was concern that she might get lost.
*Broken windows at two homes were reported on Terrace Heights Road in Selma.
*Someone reported that a parked motorhome on W. Lister Street was a traffic hazard, and that it might be a drug-selling site. It was noted that the registered owner is “extremely violent and hostile” requiring two deputies when contacted.
Monday, May 8
*There was a report at 3:55 a.m. that a girl was screaming in the vicinity of N. Boundry and Schumacher streets, but a deputy heard nothing.
*At 4:56 a.m. a deputy looked for a runaway girl on Waldo Road.
*Various items with a reported value of $590 were said to be missing after people were leaving a Caves Hwy. residence at the same time others were moving in.
*A driver refused treatment against medical advice from American Medical Response after a crash near Dawn Drive on Redwood Hwy. at 11:45 a.m. The driver was identified as John Cole Beairsto, 19.
*Two guys had their very own disturbance outside the Illinois Valley Substation at 2:29 p.m., but the victim didn’t want to pursue charges.
*In connection with an apparent rent dispute on Terrace Heights Drive, a woman said that her forehead was struck by a suspect who swung a closed fist three or four times.
*A problem involving a horse was reported in the 10000 block of Takilma Road, as one person said others wouldn’t return it.
*On S. Junction Avenue a resident complained that a man tried to enter his house by pulling on his screen door twice even though he was told to leave.
*An “accidental” 911 call was received from the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 8:35 p.m.
*After being unresponsive in a CJ business restroom, a woman, 35, was assisted. She refused medical aid, and the man contacted at her request said that she isn’t welcome at his place.
*Jubilee Park is being used to sell drugs by at least eight dealers, said an anonymous caller, who expressed dismay at the lack of patrol.
*Someone left a CJ service station without paying for $10 worth of fuel. Then they returned and paid.
*Liquor and $20 cash were reported stolen from a residence in the 14000 block of Takilma Road.
Tuesday, May 9
*Stanley Earl Hicks, 45, turned himself in at the I.V. Substation under a warrant charging FTA on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
*People threatened to shoot each other in the 7000 block of Rockydale Road because of a fence dispute. The problem was to be resolved by those involved.
*A PI notified the sheriff’s office that he would be in an area of Rockydale Road for awhile.
*From Lakeshore Drive came a call claiming that a man keeps threatening a young girl, including that he would like to burn her house down and shoot her.
*Following a complaint of trespass and possible arson, Justin Leavitt, 35, was arrested under a warrant charging FTA on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.
*Two women were reported fighting and pulling hair in Jubilee Park at 5:58 p.m. The caller also complained about drinking in the park. A deputy contacted two men, one of whom was warned about drinking in the park, but there were no women around.
