Monday, April 10
*Because a Cave Junction business did not obtain a check-writer’s ODL, a complaint of receiving a NSF check would not be pursued.
Wednesday, April 12
*There was a patrol notice that if calls were received about loose pigs, goats and other animals near Kerbyville Museum, the owners likely are a nearby couple.
*In O’Brien there was an easement problem, and one person had cut a lock, the caller said.
*Three care-takers were suspected by a rural Grants Pass a resident as the culprits in the reported loss of several thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.
*A grandmother on N. Junction Avenue said that a transient man was following her granddaughter, 8. He was described as doing push-ups in Downtown Cave Junction, and that he has dark hair and jogs around the town.
*A minor traffic crash was reported at the Cave Junction Post Office at 11:28 a.m. The drivers exchanged information, and refused medical attention.
*Creepy night-crawling vandals caused some $250 damage to the gate at the track-and-field facility behind Lorna Byrne Middle School.
*Some goofy, bogus person phoned a Lakeshore Drive resident and pretended to be from the county tax department, asking personal questions that probably were related to a possible scam.
*At Sis’s Gap near milepost 23 on Hwy. 199, a motorist with a possible dead battery was assisted.
*The likelihood of a stolen vehicle was noted after residents in the 2000 block of Holland Loop found a pickup truck hidden on their property.
*Someone reported at 5:14 p.m. that a man and a woman near the playground equipment had their pants down and appeared to be having sex. No deputies were in the valley to respond.
*After an O’Brien mother reported her daughter, 14, as missing at 5:23 p.m., she saw her on Lone Mt. Road, but the girl then got into a car that had three other people in it, and it was driven away.
*The mother reported at 7:28 p.m. that her daughter was seen hiding in a field in Downtown O’Brien. She was advised that there was no deputy in the valley.
*The runaway girl was taken by a deputy from a house in O’Brien and returned to her mother. The girl said she was unhappy with her living conditions at home.
Thursday, April 13
*Illinois River “Forks” State Park was checked by a deputy at 2:06 a.m.
*Following a 911 hang-up call from the 300 block of Caves Hwy., a boy, 13, said that he didn’t do it.
*No law enforcement was deemed necessary “at this time” after Dept. of Health & Human Services referral cases were noted in O’Brien and CJ.
*Two boys, who had been in custody in Grants Pass, were arrested in Medford, with one saying that they had been hitting each other with poison oak.
*A certain real estate agent accidentally set off a residential alarm on Idlewild Drive at 11:10 a.m.
*While at a store in Cave Junction, a rural CJ resident reported finding a hammer drill that he said was stolen from him some eight months ago.
*On Illinois River Road a man was warned about taking rocks without a permit, and for a faulty brake light.
*On Illinois River Road a driver was warned for not having a front license plate.
*Paul Tetone, 41, of Laurel Road, was cited to appear on a charge of second-degree theft.
*On Addison Lane a contractor said that he had cut down some trees, and that someone without permission had taken them and cut them into firewood. One of the trees found at the suspected cutter’s location had the contractor’s address painted on it, he said.
*At the Illinois Valley Substation, assistance was rendered a person with an ankle monitor.
*Zachary Kyle Erick, 14, was cited to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of fourth-degree assault following a complaint from Happy Camp Road that a boy, 12, had been assaulted and had lumps on his head.
*After a report of “an odd phone call” from S. Junction Avenue, the residence was phoned, and a woman there sounded OK.
*On Kerby Mainline a man was warned for following too closely at 4:18 p.m.
*At Hwys. 199 and 46, a woman was warned about speeding at 4:39 p.m.
*Unknown “something-for-nothingers” broke a door knob and pried open a garage door in the 1500 block of Caves Hwy.
*Donald J. McNown, 45, was cited on a charge of not having an operator’s license and warned about speeding at 6:21 p.m. near milepost 26 of Hwy. 199.
*Near the green bridge on Eight Dollar Road at 6:48 p.m. a man was warned about driving with a suspended license (DWS), and his car was searched with his consent.
*Ten people were said to be chasing two girls in Jubilee Park and throwing rocks at them at 8:01 p.m.
*Following a report at 8:19 p.m. that a bloody man had been “jumped” and had “cuts all over,” he was cited in Jubilee Park to appear under warrants. Justin Leavitt, 34, was wanted under warrants charging robbery, assault, theft and failure to appear on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII).
*After a broken-glass alarm sounded at Pharmacy Express in CJ, it turned out that two juvenile human males had been fighting; that one had flipped upside-down; and that one of his feet had struck the window.
*Burglary of jewelry and a shotgun from a residence in the 37000 block of Hwy. 199 was reported.
*A property line dispute continued on Deer Creek Road.
*Extra patrol was requested at Pharmacy Express because of a broken window.
*Following a complaint from Cascade Drive, a woman was warned about harassment, and was “trespassed” from the complainant’s property.
*Theft of four head of cattle and two horses was reported on White Schoolhouse Road.
*Near the Eight Dollar Road green bridge a campsite with a fire was located, and no one was around.
Friday, April 14
*What appeared to be gang graffiti was reported on a kicking wall (on the playground) at Evergreen Elementary School.
*A rural CJ resident said that a therapist refused to give her the therapy records from her treatment.
*Squatters asked to leave Q Bar X property did.
*James J. Docherty, 38, was cited and released on a DUII charge at 8:45 p.m. on Holland Loop.
*On W. Stevenson Street a resident reported at 11:26 p.m. that people were hanging around her vehicle. No one was located.
Saturday, April 15
*At 4:52 a.m. a call was received from S. Junction Avenue that an estranged husband had assaulted his wife.
*Because a “wasted,” soaking wet man was hanging over a fence near a CJ church a caller said he should not be there, as no one was home. The man said he was waiting for the preacher, but left when told he wasn’t home.
*Following a 911 hang-up call from Kerby, it was noted that the telephone had been taken away from a 2-year-old and that all was OK.
*In Kerby a man was said to be slapping a woman, and that they had a child with them at 8:25 p.m. The area was checked, but no one was found.
*In Kerby at 8:35 p.m. a woman dressed in black was lying on a yard. She had been drinking, it was said.
*In Kerby at 9:49 p.m. two women reported being assaulted by a man, and named the suspect. There was probable cause for arrest on charges of assault.
Sunday, April 16
*Held at gunpoint after a high-speed chase out Rockydale Road at 1 a.m., including a notation that the vehicle “blacked out,” a deputy apprehended Immanuel Angel Day, 25. He was cited and released on charges of felony eluding and reckless driving, and cited on charges of DWS and not having insurance. He was released to walk home.
*Cynthia L. Runsala, 58, was cited and released on a charge of DUII after a 2:02 a.m. traffic stop in the 4000 block of Caves Hwy. Her BAC was listed at .11 She was warned for careless driving, speeding, failure to stay on her lane, and for not using a turn signal.
*Outside a CJ bar at 2:21 a.m. a man suffered a split lip after another man jumped out of a pickup truck, struck him and drove away. The victim didn’t want medical attention.
*Jerrod R. Bruner, date-of-birth not listed, was cited on a DUII charge at 4:21 a.m. on Hwy. 46 at S. Junction Avenue. Skylar T. Melton, 21, was warned for having an open container of alcoholic beverage.
*At “Forks” Park, a deputy conducted Community Oriented Policing (COP) at 4:31 a.m.
*Animal Control was to be notified of a 9:15 a.m. complaint from a man in the 18000 block of Hwy. 199 that he had been attacked by three dogs, and was bitten on one arm in what he called a continuing problem.
*At Siskiyou Project in Takilma, a man said that an alarm was an accident.
*Six loose cows that might become a traffic hazard were reported at Hwy. 199 and Reeves Creek Road.
*Theft of a power saw from a job site was reported on Addison Lane.
*After a deputy pursued a vehicle from near Applegate Bridge to Redwood Tavern just south of Wonder at speeds of 75 to 80 mph, he held at gunpoint and arrested Timothy J. Cooper, 46, near 4 p.m. on charges of eluding and reckless driving.
*Animal Control was to be notified of a complaint of someone trying to sleep in the 37000 block of Hwy. 199 at 10:07 p.m. and concerning a tied-up puppy barking for 25 minutes.
*On Cascade Drive a complainant said that a woman was driving by and making faces, plus “mouthing something” toward her.
*Violation of a restraining order on Lakeshore Drive was termed unfounded.
*Yelling, screaming and wall-banging was reported on W. Stevenson Street at 8:30 p.m.
*Animal Control was to be notified of a complaint from the 37000 block of Hwy. 199 at 10:07 p.m.
Monday, April 17
*On Lois Lane in rural Grants Pass, four cases of theft from vehicles were reported.
*Near O’Brien a woman was warned for failure to wear a safety belt.
*Near Great Cats of the World on the south side of Cave Junction, a man claimed he saw what could have been an exhibit running across Hwy. 199.
*Clackamas County reported a misdemeanor warrant for a man that might be on Holland Loop.
*No injuries were reported in a vehicle-in-a-ditch mishap on Hwy. 199 near milepost 26 at 5:35 p.m.
*Theft of a loaded handgun, and food from a refrigerator, was reported in the 11000 block of Takilma Road.
*It was determined to be a civil matter after a mother said she wanted her daughter “trespassed” from her residence.
*More COP was conducted at “Forks” Park at 7:45 p.m.
*Mutual shoving was noted on Westside Road by a couple who had been drinking.
*Described as highly uncooperative after a trespass complaint on W. River Street, Leslie Roy Jansson, 49, was pepper-sprayed and equipped with a spit hood. He also was charged with resisting arrest and second-degree criminal trespassing.
*A “ratty-looking” unknown gender person was sitting “close to the white line” at “first bridge” near CJ at 10 p.m. It turned out to be an intoxicated man, who was helped off the road.
