Sunday, Feb. 19
*On Lone Mountain Road a man said that his $18 case of Busch beer had been stolen from the front porch. When contacted, the woman who took the beer admitted it, and said she was going to dump it, but would instead return it in the morning.
Monday, Feb. 20
*Downed street signs were reported on Holland Loop at Hay’s Cut-Off.
*Although chained to a light post on a Downtown Cave Junction parking, a trailer valued at $500, and filled with $160 worth of firewood, was reportedly taken after the locks were cut. The complainant later located the trailer several blocks away.
*Responding to a report of a man and woman arguing near Lorna Byrne Middle School, with a woman said to be lying on the roadway yelling for help, a deputy contacted the man, who said that his wife fell into a hole while they were walking and arguing, and cried out for assistance.
*Despite having an active restraining order against a man, a woman in the 36000 block of Redwood Hwy. invited him for dinner, whereupon he beat her, she reported.
*Said to be traveling at 81 mph in a 55 mph zone, Kevin Alfred LaPierre, 17, was cited on a charge of speeding near mile marker 25 on Redwood Hwy.
Tuesday, Feb. 21
*At 4:03 a.m., an alarm sounded at Selma Select Market.
*Joe’s Market in Kerby was where the next alarm occurred at 4:17 a.m.
*Responding to the alarm at Selma Select Market, a person noted broken glass, but did not think entry had been made.
*In Cave Junction, an alarm at the front door of the CJ 76 gas station sounded at 4:31 a.m.
*Phoning from Joe’s Market, at 4:37 a.m. a caller gave a good description of two women and one man involved in the breaking-and-entering spree, and the dark-colored Chevy pickup truck they were driving.
*Within a few minutes it was determined that entry had been made to the CJ 76 gas station, and the cash register taken, but there was no money in it.
*Shortly after 5 a.m., the proprietor of O’Brien Store & Deli said that the glass front door had been broken, and the cash register and change taken. California Highway Patrol and Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office were given the suspect vehicle description.
*On Takilma Road a woman said that a man had been making unwelcome telephone contact, and she has seen him sitting in his car in front of her residence.
*Some $17 worth of Oregon Lottery tickets were reported taken from a Cave Junction store. The culprit then attempted to cash out at another business.
*In the 300 block of Caves Hwy. it was reported that a reckless driver in a gray Toyota 4-Runner nearly hit a school bus and almost rolled the 4x4 vehicle at 2:47 p.m.
*Sometime during the past two weeks a Remington revolver and a commemorative, five-point star were taken from a safe at a residence on Crooks Creek Road, a caller said.
*Amid road rage, an apparently intoxicated man stopped his vehicle in the middle of Redwood Hwy. and got out to scream at the driver of another vehicle. He then got back in and sped away on O’Brien Road.
Wednesday, Feb. 22
*In the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy., it was reported that someone drove through the front door of a gift shop, taking the cash register.
*A man in his 30s in a green Toyota pickup truck was seen taking photos of a residence on Kinnikinnick Drive. When the complainant attempted to contact the picture-taker, he drove away quickly.
*Somewhere in Illinois Valley, Tony S. Phillips, 44, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS), and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
*In the 1500 block of Kerby Mainline, metal roofing and an old mining cart were reported stolen.
*A concerned neighbor stated gunfire was coming from a residence on Queen of Bronze Road.
Thursday, Feb. 23
*Loose on the lawn at Kerbyville Museum were two sheep and a potbellied pig, said a caller at 9:21 a.m.
*Not seen or heard from in six weeks, a man was rumored to have been murdered and buried in the 37000 block of Redwood Hwy., a caller said. A deputy contacted some people who said they had had contact with the allegedly dead man.
*In front of a Downtown CJ business, a man was warned about selling firewood without a business license.
*Patricia Jean Wolf, 42, was cited on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) following a single-vehicle accident on Laurel Road reported at 3:37 p.m.
*On Queen of Bronze Road, a man said that someone drove by his residence, revved the engine of their vehicle and shouted what sounded like, “See Kyle!” several times.
*Former tenants who owe back rent smashed a gate to access a residence on Laurel Road. A civil agreement was reached regarding damage to the gate.
*A highly intoxicated man who identified himself as “Sky Pilot” was contacted near the forest service office in CJ and encouraged to lie down and relax. He also was warned about disorderly conduct.
*On Pinewood Way a woman saw a large man in a white sweatshirt skulking about in the woods behind her home.
*“User Error” caused an alarm at SOFCU in CJ at 9:14 p.m.
*Heaters running in unoccupied dwellings on Junction Avenue were so loud that a neighbor could hear them inside her house, disturbing her sleep, she said.
Friday, Feb. 24
*Just after 4 a.m., a loose balloon inside Pharmacy Express caused a motion alarm.
*A transient was rousted from the Cave Junction Post Office at 5 a.m.
*Rigoberto Gaytan Morales, 27, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured in the 33000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 5:30 a.m.
*Evicted tenants continue to return to a residence in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy., a landlord said, when he reported that the door had been kicked in.
*Vandals caused some $500 damage to a self-loading log truck in the 3000 block of Deer Creek Road, flattening tires, spray painting on it and breaking headlights.
*When she went to retrieve her motor home from a man against whom she has a restraining order, a woman in Kerby said, he was inside it, which startled her, and she fled.
*Reporting a fender-bender on a Downtown CJ parking lot, a woman said the other driver “smelled like a brewery.”
*People were possibly trying to steal wood from a property on Forest Creek Road, a woman said.
*David Wayne Shelton, 20, was cited on a charge of amphetamine possession and a charge of possession of a controlled substance (PCS) less than an ounce of marijuana.
*Just after 4 p.m. off Rough & Ready Creek Road a vehicle was located, and it was shortly thereafter reported stolen by its Cave Junction owner. Consequently, Kevin Louis Clemen, 53, was arrested on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
*At speeds varying between 40 and 80 mph, a yellowish-tan vehicle with two occupants was reportedly being driven erratically on Lakeshore Drive at 5:20 p.m.
*Fireworks or gunshots in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive raised concern at 6 p.m.
*After “being belligerent” and preventing a tenant and her sister from retrieving belongings, a landlord on Westside Road agreed to allow them to do so.
*Three people whose vehicle ran out of fuel between Hwy. 101 and O’Brien were able, after walking for nearly eight hours, to make contact by cell phone. They were found some 6 miles up Lone Mountain Road.
Saturday, Feb. 25
*On W. River Street an unknown person used an unknown object to smash the windshield of her car, a woman said, causing $400 damage.
*Two windows were broken with rocks at Giant Burger, the owner said, causing $750 damage.
*At Robbie’s Auto Care Center, the windshield of a 24-foot U-Haul truck was smashed, causing $400 damage.
*Terrance Morris Lankford, 40, was arrested on a charge of violating a restraining order and lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass.
*Without giving notice, her landlord twice entered her residence and made verbal threats against her, a woman in Selma reported.
*All parties involved in a landlord/tenant dispute on Laurel Road, stemming from frozen pipes and a lack of water, came to a civil understanding.
*Three boys were warned regarding trespassing on a property on Thompson Creek Road around 5 p.m.
*Richard Raymond Sandoval, 20, was cited on charges of passing in a no-passing zone, and driving uninsured. He was also warned for speeding on Redwood Hwy. south of Cave Junction at 9:38 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 26
*Though her husband said he was going fishing with friends on Smith River, said a woman on Happy Camp Road, they had not seen him and she was concerned. Fortunately, he did contact her and all was well.
*In the vicinity of a CJ watering hole, a man was said to have thrown a beer bottle at a woman he’d been yelling at before he left in his pickup truck northbound on Redwood Hwy.
*Two stolen pickup trucks were discovered tucked into brush off Illinois River Road.
Monday, Feb. 27
*No good reason was discovered for a motion alarm activated at Valley Muffler & Hitch on E. Watkins Street at 3:43 a.m.
*A cell phone was reported stolen from a locker at Illinois Valley High School.
*Containing $100, a Social Security card and debit card, a man’s wallet was reported missing at a Selma business, and he wasn’t certain that his friend didn’t take it.
*Stating that his dog was actually hers, at 6 p.m. a woman was attempting to force her way into a Kerby man’s residence and refused to leave.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
*Jeremiah Scot Horn, 29, was cited on a charge of failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of fourth-degree assault.
*At 1:45 a.m., two hours after he was to have picked her up at the Jackson County/Medford International Airport, a woman phoned to ask that a deputy check on her husband at their Rockydale Road home.
*Richard Abe Linville, 54, was cited on a charge of DUII, having a reported BAC of 0.11, in Downtown CJ at 2:18 a.m. He also was warned for failure to use a turn signal, and his passenger warned about having an open container of alcoholic beverage.
*Three people attempted to gain entry to a residence on Dick George Road, a man reported at 4 a.m. They did rummage through some vehicles in a detached garage, he said.
*Extra patrol was requested in the vicinity of E. River Street at Old Stage Road due to continual problems with street signs being pulled up or knocked down.
*Upset because the ATM at a CJ bank “ate his money,” a man told the teller that if she didn’t give it to him, he was going to kill someone, and because he was carrying a gun, he was taken seriously. Within a few minutes, the man was at CJ 76 gas station, flashing his gun and harassing an employee. Consequently, Leandro Martin Page, 38, was cited on charges of: two counts of menacing, harassment and unlawful use of a weapon. He was taken to county jail.
*Just after 1 p.m. a vehicle rolled from its parking space at SOFCU and into traffic on Redwood Hwy., causing a traffic hazard.
*Near the SOS Kerby Transfer Station, a stolen, blue-and-white Ford pickup truck was recovered.
*Sometime during the past several days, someone entered a barn in the 2000 block of Holland Loop and fiddled with a car stored there, a man reported.
*Phoning from Vermont, a woman asked that a Selma man be contacted and told to stop the “mind control and satanic abuse” he’s been directing at her for the past six years, which causes her to bleed internally and in her brain at night. She also believes he is stalking her family.
*In the 37000 block of Redwood Hwy., a woman said that her 13-year-old son locked her in a closet, but that she was able to get out. The situation resolved itself before lawmen arrived.
