Wednesday, Oct. 26
*At a quarter past midnight, a woman in the 17000 block of Redwood Hwy. phoned to say that her ex-husband, with whom she lives, had been threatening her, and wouldn’t let her use the phone. He denied it, but agreed to leave for the night.
*She was going to locate the guy who had been offered $500 to beat up her son, said a woman on Hogue Drive, and bring him to the sheriff’s office for a statement.
*After the children left for school, a Selma woman said, her ex-husband assaulted her. A deputy found the man packing his items to move out, and the incident was deemed unfounded as assault.
*James Christopher Ethan Nash, 82, was cited on charges of failure to register his vehicle, and no operator’s permit on Redwood Hwy. in Selma at 8 a.m.
*Burglars ransacked the office of Crocker Financial Services next to Century 21 Harris & Taylor, where attempted burglary was reported a week earlier. At Crocker’s the punks made off with $100 petty cash plus making a mess.
*Someone attempted to burglarize an office in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy., breaking door locks to gain entry.
*Punching the desk and demanding they give her back “all her stuff,” a woman in her 30s was making demands at I.V. Family Resource Center that could not be fulfilled, so they phoned for assistance at 11 a.m. She left soon after.
*Lacking a license plate, a travel trailer with a nasty aroma was abandoned on Finch Road near the green bridge.
*On Barlow Road, Angelique Clara Beck, 24, was arrested under a Central Point Police warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of second-degree possession of a controlled substance (PCS).
*Like a bad penny, a woman who had been warned explicitly not to trespass at the CJ 76 gas station was back, an attendant said.
*On Warren Road, a man who was unwelcome and refused to leave did so, eventually.
*For no known reason, a guy on S. Hussey Avenue at W. Lister St. at 7:30 p.m. began running when he saw the deputy, immediately making him a Suspicious Person. He was not found.
*A woman complained that her parents, who had taken care of her 5-year-old daughter for the past year, were interfering with her custodial rights.
*In Selma, a 16-year-old girl and her four younger siblings convinced themselves of the presence of a prowler on the stairs outside, but when the house was checked at 11 p.m. no intruder was found.
Thursday, Oct. 27
*Having been drinking, a valley trailer park tenant and his guest were being quite loud, and after the third warning, the manager phoned for deputy aid.
*An Illinois Valley woman reported receiving an obscene phone call this morning, which her Caller ID identified as coming from a 955 exchange. Investigators already were pursuing the same suspect in other such incidents.
*A Selma woman said that her ex-husband took her car without permission, probably to visit his girlfriend.
*On Reeves Creek Road, someone entered a locked home and took contractor’s equipment, wood, electrical supplies and guns. Four suspects were contacted, and most everything was recovered. The victims chose not to press charges, but reserved the right if the subjects trespassed or harassed them in any way.
*Drug paraphernalia, including two hypodermic needles and a spoon, was found in a red zippered pouch with “Tammy” on it in Downtown CJ.
*A woman at the I.V. Family Resource Center said that she has information on video tape about who took a vest and checkbook.
*Katie Lynn Chandler, aka Katie Lynn Farner, 14, was arrested at I.V. High School on a charge of being a fugitive runaway, and lodged in the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass.
*Concerned that his elderly neighbor did not answer the phone, a man on Rockydale Road asked a deputy to check on her. She was OK.
*Michael Shane Alirie, 34, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and without a license at 8 p.m. He also was warned for careless driving.
Friday, Oct. 28
*Contacted at the top of Hay’s Hill, John Travis Nottingham, 45, was arrested on a charge of attempted first-degree criminal mischief and warned about trespassing at all Evergreen Federal Bank properties after threatening a CJ Evergreen employee with a rock just after 8 a.m. Animal Control was asked to take custody of Nottingham’s dog.
*A man found sleeping in somebody else’s pickup truck near Illinois Valley Golf Course was determined to have been given permission to use it.
*In Selma a woman said that her husband, or ex-husband or estranged husband (it varies) took her car, and had left threatening messages on her voice mail to the effect that he was returning to the residence.
*Four people who had been involved in a physical altercation on the parking lot at Selma Select Market left in three different vehicles headed in different directions, a witness said.
*Several drivers on Eight Dollar Mt. Road were warned for a number of citable infractions including failure to wear a seatbelt, expired license plates, an unregistered vehicle or lack of insurance.
*Described as “highly agitated and anti-law enforcement,” and refusing to present ID, Samuel J. Milo, 45, was cited for a defective license plate light on Eight Dollar Mt. Road at 7 p.m.
*A woman who was an assault victim was transported from I.V. Fire Station 2 in Selma to Three Rivers Community Hospital (TRCH) at 7:30 p.m. by American Medical Response.
*Three dogs and two cats were left behind when his roommates were evicted, said a man on Taurus Lane at 8:20 p.m. He wanted Animal Control to remove the animals, as one of the dogs lunged at him, he said.
*Duncan Gumaer, 18, of Selma, was charged with fourth-degree domestic assault and lodged in Josephine County Jail after allegedly pushing his mother.
*The driver of a white four-door sedan nearly struck another vehicle when pulling out of the CJ 76 gas station just after 9 p.m., someone reported.
*On S. Old Stage Road a man said that his neighbors accused him of feeding salmon to their dogs.
Saturday, Oct. 29

Sunday, Oct. 30
*County road workers were advised of street signs downed on Holland Loop at Robinson Corner Road.
*Motion detectors at Dome School triggered an alarm at 12:31 p.m., but according to a responsible person, all was OK.
*Wearing a stocking cap, jacket and camouflage pants, a would-be burglar who fled a home in the 1000 block of Lakeshore after a struggle with the home owner took off through the woods. The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, was last seen walking down Lakeshore Drive.
*In connection with the earlier home invasion, Arthur Dustin DiFuria, 30, was arrested near Lake Selmac Resort on a charge of first-degree criminal trespassing and lodged in county jail. There was also an outstanding warrant charging FTA on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
*From the 900 block of Caves Hwy., two 911 hang-up calls, likely initiated by a small child, were received around 3 p.m.
*Dogs jumping against a door probably caused an alarm in the 5000 block of Lakeshore Drive, the home owner reported.
*After two dogs attacked her Shih Tzu, a woman in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. shot one of them dead. The owner of the dead dog buried it, but the owner’s son, who lives out of state, said that the dog was his and he phoned to threaten to shoot the original complainant’s dog, if he ever saw it. His parents were "extremely apologetic."
Monday, Oct. 31
*An alarm at Bridgeview Community Church was due to an error, it was reported.
*An employee slammed the door at Dr. Joe’s Pet Hospital too emphatically around 5 p.m., causing a glass-break detection alarm to sound.
*Because there were a lot of transients in Jubilee Park, and many of them were carrying “large bottles of unknown substances, possibly water or alcohol,” a caller expressed concern that things could go badly at 5:30 p.m.
*Although a mother on W. River Street was concerned that her daughter may have been a runaway person, the girl returned some time later.
*On Madrona Way a man said that his ex-girlfriend had threatened to kill him with her bare hands or have some people come over to “take him out.” He was advised to phone 911 if she does show up.
*Phoning from a public telephone near CJ Select Market, a witness said that two men were attempting to push a car along the side of the road. Beer cans were said to be atop the car, but there was no other information.
*A suspected prowler was reported on S. Junction Avenue at 11:30 p.m.
