Tales from the Police Blotter

Tuesday, Oct. 11

*Sometime during the past week, a pair of storage units were reportedly broken into on S. Caves Avenue.

*Two mailboxes at the Cave Junction Post Office were pried open. It was not determined whether or not any mail had been removed.

*Julie Josephine Britt, 41, was arrested under a Josephine County warrant charging first-degree theft, identity theft and second-degree forgery. She was lodged in Josephine County Jail.

*Reports of first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree arson were filed in connection with a structure fire on Laurel Road at 7:40 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 12

*No information was available for today.

Thursday, Oct. 13

*An elderly woman who wandered away from a Dick George Road residence two days prior was located by a man on Westside Road, he reported at 4:25 a.m.

*Theft and burglary, both in the second degree, were reported having occurred at Valley Farm and Garden three days ago.

*It was requested that a deputy “drive by” and “disperse the transients” gathered near CJ Select Market at 3:38 p.m.

*Elizabeth Ann Beards, 45, was arrested on charges of two counts of first-degree theft, one count of second-degree theft, identity theft, first-degree forgery, computer crime, and falsifying business records.

*Patrol was advised that an intoxicated man was staggering down Naue Way toward Rough & Ready Creek Road, and had urinated on the roadway in the 400 block at 4 p.m.

*In the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. a landlord was advised that she may not threaten to take her tenant’s personal property for a rent payment. Both parties were advised of their civil options.

Friday, Oct. 14

*A single-vehicle motor vehicle accident (MVA) with damage to public property occurred on Redwood Hwy. at Eight Dollar Mountain Road at just after midnight, a driver reported.

*The owner of a white pickup truck was advised of being discovered on its top in the 3000 block of Caves Hwy. sometime after 4 a.m. He had loaned it to a friend, he said, and would take the matter up with them later in the morning.

*On N. Old Stage Road a home owner reported that the back doors, valued at $350, had been shattered and someone had entered, taking a small TV and three lamp posts.

*Sometime during the past two days somebody made off with a travel trailer full of his belongings, a man reported.

*Leslie Roy Jansson, 48, was arrested on June Drive on a charge of probation violation and lodged in Josephine County Jail following a complaint about his uncooperative, threatening and intoxicated behavior.

*Having received no cooperation from the parents of her son’s assailant, a Kerby mother sought deputy assistance because, she said, her son was hit in the eye with a stick, and that things like this had happened before.

Saturday, Oct. 15

*Comic books and baseball cards were reported missing after a thief pried open a door in the 32000 block of Redwood Hwy.

*Line dancers apparently caused an alarm at I.V. Senior Center, but they were OK.

*Criminal mischief damage to a window was estimated at $30 at Selma Video.

*There was a 911 hang-up call from Fir Drive involving a scared girl.

*Theft of two marijuana plants was reported on Deer Creek Road, and it was noted that a person involved is “very hostile” toward lawmen.

*Timothy Cooper, 45, was cited on charge of driving while suspended in Selma.

*A couple miles south of Selma at 1:14 p.m. a car was on its top. No injuries were reported.

*In the 9000 block of Illinois River Road three people in a vehicle were warned about wearing safety belts, and the driver was warned to drive to the right.

*Jeffrey A. Connors, 32, was arrested at the Selma Post Office under a California warrant charging probation violation, burglary and battery. He had originally called to report the theft of his wallet.

*An abandoned auto had been on BLM property on Upper Deer Creek Road for about a month, a caller said.

*Two men with guns were at the scene of a vehicle fire that spread to some grass at 5:19 p.m. in the 8500 block of Deer Creek Road.

*Kevin A. Miner, 16, was cited on charges of driving without insurance, careless driving, and driving a motorcycle without a license at Lakeshore and Hogue drives.

Sunday, Oct. 16

*Loud music had been played since approximately 2 a.m., a Kerby resident in the 24000 block said at 3:23 a.m. A deputy walked around the area, but heard no music.

*There was a dead deer in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy., not the result of a hunter, but a vehicle.

*Theft of jewelry valued at more than $2,000 was reported on Ollis Road. A suspect named by the complainant denied any knowledge.

*Richard Lon Elliott, 40, was arrested at the $8 Road green bridge under a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on a charge of first-degree theft in Jackson County.

*Some sort of medical problem was a concern in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. after a caller heard their party having difficulty breathing.

*No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle crash at Redwood Hwy. and Waldo Road at 8:36 p.m.
