Tuesday, Oct. 4
*Damage estimated at $500 occurred at Lorna Byrne Middle School when vandals broke a 3-by-6-foot window with an “unknown object,” and a report of second-degree criminal mischief was filed shortly after 8 a.m.
*Someone fired a pellet gun from the woods nearby, striking one arm of a student on the soccer field, said an instructor at Illinois Valley High School at 9:43 a.m.
*On McMullen Creek Road, a man sought help recovering some $1,000 worth of “designer” clothing left when he moved out of the residence some time ago. The person who refuses to return the clothes, he said, laughs at him.
*In Cave Junction, a resident noted an abandoned car on the front yard. Also noticed were “pills, and a white powdery substance on the ground near the vehicle,” and a note which read, “I have your meth,” and “Call me about your driving habits.” The caller was advised that the substances were not narcotics, and that they had been left there from an earlier incident.
*Possible would-be vandals ran from Evergreen Elementary School at 8:22 p.m. after the custodian noted their running about on the roof. She locked up their bicycles, and for a time, one of the “mouthy” kids refused to leave until the bike was returned.
Wednesday, Oct. 5
*Following a complaint from the 3000 block of Takilma Road at 12:32 a.m. about a man with a key outside a woman’s bedroom, a report on violation of a restraining order was pending.
*For some reason, Josephine Interagency Narcotics Team was to be notified about a man living on the south side of Cave Junction.
*Despite a report of a suspicious person on Robinson Road at 3:20 a.m., such was not located.
*James S. Towe, 29, was cited on charges of driving with a suspended license and not having insurance at Caves Hwy. and Chapman Creek Road at 4:02 a.m. The vehicle was impounded.
*Theft of a debit card was reported by an O’Brien resident, who said that it had been used by someone in a Cave Junction bar.
*In the 5000 block of Caves Hwy., a reported stolen pickup truck was recovered.
*Near Evergreen Elementary School, her son was shot by a pellet gun, a mother said.
*At Shop Smart, a girl, 14, was arrested on a charge of third-degree theft. (shoplifting).
*Theft of a car not in her name was reported by a woman in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*The call was about “disorderly conduct” on Crooks Creek Road in connection with a man who was upset because he had paid for road improvement “and it is being damaged.”
*An “unknown” person was said to be driving through property on Crooks Creek Road without permission.
*Trespassing was reported on Schumacher Street at a vacant house and shed.
Thursday, Oct. 6
*Today and during other days in this report, deputies made traffic stops for a number of infractions and either issued citations or warnings.
*A man with red hair was accused of driving too fast in Kerby near a school bus.
*Attempted burglary was reported at Century 21 Harris & Taylor after it was found that someone tried to break in.
*There was a complaint from Robinson Corner that people were destroying a streambed.
*A rural CJ man claimed that someone used his bank card to buy stuff in Grants Pass.
*Damage was estimated at $1,150 at Evergreen Elementary School involving footballs and soccer balls, and a scratch on the side of a van. Knives apparently were used by two suspects, both 12.
*In Takilma, a man said that a hostile man took down his U.S. flag and stomped on it.
*A boy, 14, was warned about illegal fireworks on W. River Street.
*In Kerby, a woman who had been drinking was trespassing and bothering customers at Joe’s Market. She was told to not come back.
*Violation of a restraining order was reported on E. River Street at 6:23 p.m.
*There was a problem in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. involving a woman said to be delusional.
Friday, Oct. 7
*At 1:37 a.m. a man in Downtown CJ complained that a guy with a cowboy hat and a dog was bothering him.
*Foraging horses on Westside Road concerned a caller because they could get to the road, he said.
*Two brothers were fighting on Lakeshore Drive. Then they went to school.
*Theft of a sterling silver necklace was reported on Ollis Road.
*A man wearing “grungy clothes” would leave a CJ store after being told to several times, and caused a disturbance. He was escorted off the property.
*Someone was driving recklessly in Selma in what was described as a truck with tinted windows.
*Shotgun blasts in the vicinity of Addison Lane and Old Stage Road were reported at 6:42 p.m.
*There was a burglary incident logged in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. said to involve three girls in some sort of dispute about two T-shirts. Civil compromise was reached.
*A “suspicious” man with a beard was trying to get people to look inside his van at a CJ service station, apparently because he had tools for sale.
*Near Selma, Trevor J. Lockward, 21, was cited on a charge of driving 77 mph in a 55 mph zone at 10:29 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 8
*An alarm that sounded on Holland Loop apparently was for a business in Cave Junction, the owners said.
*There was a disturbance involving an intoxicated woman and someone tapping on a house at 2:18 a.m. on S. Old Stage Road.
*Two men were yelling at each other on Draper Valley Road, and the complainant then heard what sounded like a gunshot at 11:34 a.m. It turned out to be a vehicle backfiring.
*At 11:19 a.m. there was a report that someone driving a silver-colored car was “all over the road” and nearly went into ditches several times near CJ.
*In Selma a trespassing situation involving tenants who allowed a third party to reside with them “resolved itself.”
*Following threats in the 25000 block of Redwood Hwy., a man who had been drinking was advised what would happen to him if he carried out the threats.
*Theft of a $300 rifle from somewhere on Redwood Hwy. in Illinois Valley was reported.
*A burglar alarm that sounded on Deer Creek Road was caused by a painter.
*“Domestic violence” on Thompson Creek Road turned out to be people rooting during a football game.
Sunday, Oct. 9
*A woman said at two minutes past midnight on S. Old Stage Road that two men approached a tent that had children in it.
*No injury was reported after a pickup truck went over onto one side on Reeves Creek Road. The driver was identified as Kristy McMan.
*It was said that after a pickup truck driver lost control and rolled it, people righted the vehicle in Jubilee Park.
*A woman in white, who “looked clean” was trying to get vehicles to stop at Redwood Hwy. and $8 Road.
Monday, Oct. 10
*The lone I.V. item listed today involved a complaint from Robinson Corner Road in which a man said a neighbor was using reflective material to shine the sun directly into his house. No crime was noted.
